Has hair cell loss MET its match?
H umans, like all animals, depend on sensory systems to perceive different aspects of the physical world. One of the most remarkable achievements of evolution has been the development of sensory cells that are specialized to detect unique aspects of this world such as a single photon or a single molecular odorant. Similarly, our ability to perceive sound is mediated through the vibration of exq...
متن کاملSPSB1 may have MET its match during breast cancer recurrence.
SUMMARY Disease recurrence is the most common cause of death for patients with breast cancer, yet little is known about the molecular mechanisms underlying this process. Using inducible transgenic mouse model systems, Feng and colleagues identified SPSB1 as a determinant of breast cancer recurrence by virtue of its ability to protect tumor cells from apoptosis through c-MET activation.

متن کاملTargeting MET in Lung Cancer: Will Expectations Finally Be MET?
The hepatocyte growth factor receptor (MET) is a potential therapeutic target in a number of cancers, including NSCLC. In NSCLC, MET pathway activation is thought to occur through a diverse set of mechanisms that influence properties affecting cancer cell survival, growth, and invasiveness. Preclinical and clinical evidence suggests a role for MET activation as both a primary oncogenic driver i...
